How to measure your jacket or top?

Shoulder width

  • Place the garment on a flat surface, ensuiring there are no wrinkles or folds. Also button or zip your garment if applicable.
  • Locate the shoulder seams where the sleeves are attached to the body of the garment.
  • Measure straight across from the left shoulder seam to the right shoulder seam on half the garment, following the natural curve if necessary.

Chest width

  • Place the garment on a flat surface, ensuring there are no wrinkles or folds. Button or zip it up if applicable.
  • Find the widest part of the garment, usually just below the armholes or armpits.
  • Measure straight across the garment from one side seam to the other at chest level on half the garment

Bottom width

  • Place the garment on a flat surface, ensuiring there are no wrinkles or folds. Also button or zip your garment if applicable.
  • Measure the bottom width on half the garment.

Sleeve length

  • Place the garment on a flat surface, ensuring there are no wrinkles or folds. Button or zip it up if applicable.
  • Place the measuring tape at the edge of your shoulder where it meets the top of your arm (this is the shoulder seam on most shirts).
  • Measure straight down from the shoulder seam untill the end of the sleeve.

Centre back length (CBL)

  • Place the garment on a flat surface, ensuiring there are no wrinkles or folds. Also button or zip your garment if applicable.
  • Locate the center back of the jacket at the base of the collar (where the collar meets the body).
  • Measure straight down along the center back seam to the bottom hem of the jacket. Measure on half the garment.

How to measure your trousers?

Waist width

  • Place the garment on a flat surface, ensuring there are no wrinkles or folds. Button or zip it up if applicable.
  • Measure straight across the top of the waistband from one end to the other.
  • Measure on half the garment

Hip width

  • Place the garment on a flat surface, ensuring there are no wrinkles or folds. Button or zip it up if applicable.
  • Locate the widest part of the hip area – This is typically about 20 cm (8 inches) down from the waist, but it may vary depending on the style of the garment.
  • Measure from sideseam to sideseam on half the garment.

Inside leg length (inseam)

  • Place the garment on a flat surface, ensuiring there are no wrinkles or folds. Also button or zip your garment if applicable.
  • Measure straight down from the crotch seam along the inner leg seam to the hem of the trousers.
  • Measure on half the garment.

Side length

  • Place the garment on a flat surface, ensuiring there are no wrinkles or folds. Also button or zip your garment if applicable.
  • Measure from top to bottom along the sideseam, making sure to include the waistband.
  • Measure on half the garment.

How to measure your skirt?

Side length

  • Place the garment on a flat surface, ensuiring there are no wrinkles or folds. Also button or zip your garment if applicable.
  • Measure from top to bottom along the sideseam, making sure to include the waistband.
  • Measure on half the garment.

Waist width

  • Measure on half the garment

Hip width

  • Place the garment on a flat surface, ensuring there are no wrinkles or folds. Button or zip it up if applicable.
  • Locate the widest part of the hip area – This is typically about 20 cm (8 inches) down from the waist, but it may vary depending on the style of the garment.
  • Measure on half the garment.

Bottom width

  • Place the garment on a flat surface, ensuiring there are no wrinkles or folds. Also button or zip your garment if applicable.
  • Measure the bottom width on half the garment.
